While critical reception was lukewarm, Missing You quickly captivated audiences. The series follows Detective Inspector Kat Donovan (Rosalind Eleazar), a Manchester police officer haunted by the disappearance of her fiancé, Josh, a decade prior. Their relationship crumbled after the murder of her police officer father, leaving Kat emotionally scarred.

The story takes a dramatic turn when Kat reconnects with Josh on a dating app. Their reunion is short-lived, however, as Josh abruptly cuts off contact. But things get even more complicated when Kat learns that Monte LeBurne, the man convicted of her father's murder, is dying of cancer.

Driven by a desperate need for answers, Kat infiltrates the prison to confront LeBurne. The encounter takes a shocking turn when the prison nurse injects LeBurne with a truth serum, revealing a startling secret: he was framed for Kat's father's murder.

Meanwhile, Kat's investigation into a missing man named Rishi leads her down a rabbit hole of deceit and danger. Rishi, who appears to have been catfished, is found bound and captive.
